OPERF 2011 Educator Award Recipient Announced

The Orthotic and Prosthetic Education and Research Foundation (OPERF) congratulates Sara Peterson, MBA, CPO, CFM, of the University of Pittsburgh who is the recipient of the 2011 OPERF Educator Award. Peterson hopes to perform research in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh's engineers, therapists, physicians, and fellow PhD faculty.

OPERF is proud to support research and education in the O&P profession through activities such as the 2011 Educator Award Program. Thanks go out to all the individuals, companies, and organizations within the O&P profession who continue to support OPERF through their donations.The Board also extends its thanks and appreciation to all of those who have served as application reviewers for this year's award submissions.

The Orthotic and Prosthetic Education and Research Foundation (OPERF), Inc. was established in 2008 as an independent, non-profit foundation to promote research and education in O&P. Two years ago, OPERF established a unique Awards Program designed to encourage and stimulate research at all levels in the O&P profession. In 2010, OPERF added The OPERF Educator Award Program designed to support prosthetics and orthotics educators who currently hold teaching positions at CAAHEP-accredited O&P education institutions who are pursuing higher degrees to improve their skills as O&P instructors. Educator Awards include a $2,500 cash grant. Selection of the Educator Award recipient was based upon the merit of the educator's submission.
