2009 Tamarack Prize - Request for Nominations

The Orthotics and Prosthetics Education and Research Foundation (OPERF), Inc. is now soliciting nominations for the Tamarack Prize for Outstanding Contribution to Orthotic Science and Practice. This prize, sponsored by Tamarack Habilitation Technologies, Inc., recognizes the critical importance of clinical research in the pursuit of improved patient outcomes.
The OPERF is seeking nominations for individuals who have made a significant contribution to the practice and understanding of orthotics science within the last five years. The Foundation may also solicit nominations. Ideal candidates are those who have a history of clinical care, scientific research, and peer-reviewed publication in the orthotics profession and/or industry.
Eligibility: To qualify for award consideration, nominees must:
- Be eligible to provide clinical care as an orthotist within the United States (ABC certification is not required);
- Have a minimum of ten years clinical experience as an orthotist;
- Be an active member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP);
- Be actively involved in research directed at improving orthotic science and clinical care over the past five or more years; and
- Be an author or co-author in at least one article in a peer-reviewed journal, such as the Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics (JPO).
The 2009 Tamarack Prize will be presented at the 2009 American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists 35th Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium. The recipient of the Tamarack Prize will also be invited to present at the opening session of the Annual Meeting. The Tamarack Prize will include a $10,000 unrestricted cash award in recognition of the recipient's contributions to science and dedication to improving orthotic clinical care.
Application Procedures: Nominations for the 2009 Tamarack Prize for Outstanding Contribution to Orthotic Science and Practice are being accepted through the OPERF's website at www.operf.org/tamarack.
Required submission materials will include:
- Tamarack Prize application;
- Applicant's Curriculum Vitae (CV) or resume; and
- Copies of relevant publications
